Some pipelines impose an object convention, but JSON syntax itself permits any value. JSONLines reports the root kind instead of enforcing an object-only policy.

Root-kind counts expose the shape

Object, array, string, number, boolean and null totals make mixed streams visible.

The downstream contract may be narrower

A syntactically valid scalar record can still be rejected by a system that expects objects; verify that separately.
